Hu Lei Jia (also known as Hu Long Jia), or "Thunder" style, was formulated by Chen Qing Ping's student Li Jing Yan. He fused the Zhaobao style with an art called "Yun Qi Chui".

Adam Hsu, a US practitioner of the style, notes that while the art is virtually extinct in Chenjiagou,there are many practitioners of the style today in the village of Wanggedun, near Chenjiagou.

A hybrid version of the style (mixing Lao Jia with Hu Lei jia) is also popular in Taiwan, due largely to the efforts of the late master Tu Yi Che.
