Following the development of the ability to neutralize an incoming
force, the student will learn to further apply these skills in the
context of the five categories of combat techniques:
1. Leg techniques (Bu Fa): kicking, hooking, sweeping, stamping, and
linking.
2. Striking (Da): shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, palm, fist, knee,
hip, chest, back, head, etc. techniques.
3. Fa jing; A sudden, relaxed, expression of whole body power- can
be focused for a short, medium, or long range. The result of correct
postural relaxation and alignment( “frame”), abdominally
generated movement, use of ground to amplify transfer of kinetic force
through the frame, focus, and weight transference. Developed by specific
postures in form and by auxiliary training methods (including weapons
forms) to increase body strength and skill in issuing it.
4. Qinna- joint locking techniques. Techniques found in solo forms,
practiced in pushing hands.
5. Throwing (Shuai Jiao)- casting the opponent to the ground. Techniques
found in solo forms, practiced in pushing hands.To develop martial
ability, one must first develop a solid foundation of basic skills.
The student develops technique, timing, and sensitivity to the opponent
via two person exercises typified by Tui Shou (“Pushing Hands”).
